Reviews

A few days ago, I wrote a review of Ars Magica Fifth Edition. I'm very pleased that in only two or so days, it has been read by over 2,500 people.

It took me ages to get this book, despite it being on my X-Mas Wishlist.

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, feel free to scroll down past Snake Gandhi to the political stuff.

So you a kind-of role player as well!

Interesting, role players seem to be of all political backgrounds. Had a friend who was a great supporter of Thatcher and I never thought he would be one. But there you go.

I first heard of Ars Magica in 1993 but don't know in which direction it has moved within then. I haven't played any pen-and-paper game for about six years. I moved to Magic instead.

However, it was very interesting to read the arguments of ultra-conservative Christians in the US on role-playing games. When I was 15 I came across the Pulling report, about the mother of a guy who committed suicide when his character died who lead an active campaign against this creation. Ever heard of that one - it's a good read.

The Pulling report is now largely discredited, except perhaps in some fringe Deep South towns.
